The Best Time to Post on Instagram

IMG_9282 copy.JPG

This week I’m talking about the best time to post!

I’m going to give you my thoughts on this topic, but I still think it’s a bit of a mystery. Lol. These are tips I’ve learned/used/found most effective. Please enjoy!

  1. Post when people are most active on Social Media. Morning, midday, right after work, and right before bedtime. Think about the times you are on Instagram each day of the week and start from there.

  2. Test out a few time options over the period of a week. My posts tend to get more engagement if I post at bedtime, but I know other accounts do best when they post first thing in the morning.

  3. That silly algorithm. This basically means Instagram decides when they show your followers your posts. If you post first thing in the morning, sometimes your followers see it right away and other times they see it later that afternoon. If there are accounts you interact with a lot, those will be the accounts you see first on your feed. This is why it’s important to interact with your followers!

  4. If you have a business profile you can utilize the Insights tab (Iocated in the top right corner of your profile) to see when your followers are most active on Instagram. This is according to Instagram’s analytics so try posting when your followers are most active.

  5. The moral of this story. Find a time that works for you and stick with it! People like consistency. If your followers know you always post in the morning, they will look out for your posts every morning.

This really is a hard topic to nail down but hopefully these tips can help guide you into finding the time that works best for you! Let me know below if there are any other topics in the social media realm you want to learn more about! #socialonpointe

5 Basic Hashtag Tips for Instagram

Hashtags are a great way to grow your Instagram following! If you don’t where to start, follow these basic tips below!

  1. You can use 30 (yes 30) hashtags in each post. If you’re trying to grow your brand or business, I suggest using all 30!

  2. Change your hashtags and make sure they are relevant to your post. I don’t know this for sure… but if you use the same hashtags on every post and don’t use hashtags directly related to your post, your post might be tagged as spam 😬This causes your post to not show up in the specific hashtag grouping.

  3. Post your hashtags in the comments of your post. This isn’t something you need to do, it just makes your post look cleaner.

  4. Why do people use the 5 dots or asterisks before they post their hashtags? Again, this makes the “hashtags comment” look cleaner on your post. With Instagram being a visual platform, I always try to make my posts look as visually clean as possible.

  5. Keep a list of hashtags in the notes section of your phone. Title them and have them all typed out (with the 5 asterisks) so you can easily copy and paste them in the comments as soon as you publish your post!

Happy Hashtagging!

5 Basic things to include in your Instagram Bio

image1 (4).jpeg

I love seeing how people present their bios on Instagram! People get super creative with hashtags and links and emojis. Here are 5 things I think are important to include in your bio no matter how creative you get!

Your Instagram Bio is one of the first things a potential new follower will look at. You only have 150 character so get creative and always make sure to include:

1. Your name or the name of your business

2. Location

3. Contact info

4. What is your page about

5. Link to a website

1. Your name or the name of business - This may seem like a no brainer but you must list your name or the name of your business. Either in you Instagram handle or the name listed on your page. This way when people do a search on instagram they are able to find your page easily. Tip* Your handle and Instagram name can be different. That way you potential customers have another way to find you!

2. Location - As an avid Instagramer it's frustrating when I see a beautiful page with a really great service or product but I have no idea where to find them. Are they in NYC, California, London?! Please make sure you add your location in your bio!

3. Contact Info - You now have an option on Instagram to have a business account. The business account puts an email button on your bio making it easy for potential customers to contact you. If you have NOT switched over to a business account be sure to list your email in your bio so customers will be able to contact you easily without having to search around for your email address.

4. What is your page about - Let us know what your page is all about! We want you to be pretty blunt. Do you style hair, sell t- shirts, have a blog about business, teach fitness. Tell us exactly what your page is about so we're not trying to guess what you sell or offer.

5. Link to a website - Use the clickable link in your bio to lead back to your website, an online story about you,  a YouTube video, your blog,  or a free download about your business. Use this clickable link to your advantage and don't be afraid to get creative!

*Bonus* You can now add clickable hashtags and account handles to your bio. Make sure to take advantage of that tool as well!

Have fun creating your bio and don't be afraid to switch it up from time to time!
